No, you can do it all yourself. The problem comes when you have to follow the procedures and one little mistake causes the judge to make an unfavorable ruling. You plead your case and the opposing council makes you look bad. It can be done but you have to be ready at all times to defend your position.

It all depends on what court you plan to take a person to. If you take a person or persons to a civil case, then no. All other courts require a lawyer, I believe
