We're in the Great Apostasy. It was foretold that before the rapture there would be a great falling away, that those who claimed to be the church would have a form of Christianity without having Christ. Seems like so many churches are full of people wanting to know how rich God can make them instead of repenting of sin and seeking to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this dark and dying world.

Forgive me using a message that I saw on a bumper sticker....."Christians aren't perfect....just forgiven." I wish I could say that once you become a Christian that you are suddenly perfect and incapable of sinning. I can't say that because although we have a new nature( If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, Old things are passed away, behold all things become new) we still live in our old sinful body and we are still in the same old sinful world. Satan knows where each of us are weak and that is where he attacks and tempts us to sin. With some it is gossip or love of money and the things it can buy and with some it is the lust of the flesh or wanting attention or whatever. The church is full of people with different personalities and flaws as well as gifts and abilities. Just like in an earthly family, we have our differences but we should still love each other and take up for one another. That is why I'm taking up for those hypocrites, gossips etc. because they are my brothers and sisters. Like the little children's song says, "He's still working on me, to make me what I ought to be". To end with, I'll share an old joke that I heard a long long time ago. "If you ever find a "perfect church" don't join it because it won't be perfect anymore."

I was raised in a christian family, a christian school and attended church regularly and tried out many denominations to find the "right one". Never could find it. I was the typical church lady and did volunteer work and was very involved for many years. Even worked for a Christian TV station. I didn't gossip but found that even the pastors gossiped. I was hurt by the untrue rumours started by some that were playing politics in the church and quit attending. It seems as long as there are imperfect people, there will be imperfect churches. I look at them now as social clubs or pastors with their own little kingdoms. I still believe in Jesus and my faith in God goes beyond what petty stuff happens in churches and their negative influence on this world. I just throw out all the religious junk and keep what really matters. Read the Bible, it's full of imperfect people that God loves.

There are a variety of reasons.

One of these is because churches are made up of fallen, but redeemed, people. They still carry around the flesh that causes all of us to sin. There is a saying that the church is a lot like Noah's Ark. The stench on the inside would be unbearable, except for the storm outside.

Next, not everyone who goes to church is a Christian. Churches are full of people who know about Jesus, but have never met Him. They have never been confronted with their sin, and remain unregenerate.

Another reason is how you perceive the people who go. When we see people, we all have our prejudices. If we go there looking for the bad, we will surely find it.

Lastly, the church is made up of people just like you. Join in, you'll feel right at home! (See Matthew 7:1-5)

Most churches suck because they do not preach or teach a true Gospel message. They try to tell you that material gain shows God's approval, not so! For some reason when people talk down about other people they think it makes them look better than those around them, it really just shows their ignorance. The true gospel is Jesus Christ and him Crucified. Nothing else! Don't look for the true church in the people, people will always let you down. Let Jesus into your hart and work out your own salvation. If you can do that then you can walk into any church anywhere and feel right at home because you took Jesus with you, you didn't go there looking for him. You don't have to have a so called preacher to get you to come to an alter in a church to let Jesus into your hart, go somewhere private if you want to, I promise he will meet you there. Our relationship with God is PERSONAL, in the end we will be judged according to our own deeds. Get yourself a Bible and study the Epistles ( that is from Romans through Jude ) Don't be afraid to question those who are teaching you, make them answer your questions with scripture as proof. The answers are there we just have to dig them out. John 17:3 Read Colossians chapter 2 & 3 it's a good place to start. Be very careful about trusting any organized religon. You don't want religon you want TRUTH

I'm sorry you feel like that.

I've never experienced a church like that.

I don't go as often as I should, but I always leave feeling calmer and happier than when I arrived

Hypocrites, gossips and money lust is also found in schools, business and the community at large. Churches are not alone in that.....

Honey, churches are made up of people! HELLO!!! People are hipocritical, people gossip, people lust, and yet the church survives off all these types of peoples money! You will never find a perfect church and if you ever do, don't join it, trust me it won't be perfect anymore. I'm not trying to offend you, but realistically ask yourself this question. People are people and we struggle with different things. Just be thankful for Jesus who loves us and shows us grace and mercy despite how we are, how we act, and what we struggle with daily!

Honestly, just like everything else in the world, religion has become big business. Faith and love have to come from within- something you really don't need a church for. If you read the Bible you know that God created everything, but if you go to church a preacher, pastor, or priest will tell you that unless you accept certain rules set by the church God will send you to Hell. It clearly states in the Bible that as long as you accept Jesus then you will be welcomed in Heaven. Long ago, faith and love were taught on streets, on hills and in homes. I personally don't need a preacher with his hand out telling me how to live my life. I don't need their rules to know that God is there for me and loves me. All I need is my faith and my love for everything and everyone. If more people took the time to become better people instead of going to church to make themselves feel better for their sins then maybe we wouldn't be where we are at today- a world where greed and hatred rule. Tolerance is not taught at church, it is destroyed in church. Be in touch with yourself and with God, and don't worry about needing a 'recognized' religion to help you follow the path of good and righteous.

Unfortunately, some, maybe even (most) churches are "over rulled" by these types of people/things. It is hard to find a "perfect" church. Try to find interest in televised programs that come on Sunday mornings. This takes you out of the "yuck" part of church, keeps it personal for you and still get the word of God (or whom ever you seek truth from)
Hope this helps
