yes on your brain

PS generally all aerobic exercises (running, jogging, swimming, any endurance activity) will burn calories and help manage your weight.
- in order to gain muscle mass you have to work out the muscle with enough resistance to stimulate growth,

MOST IMPORTANT is you dont have a healthy diet you will NOT loose weight

Well, no, concentrating on one part of your body to tone will not work as well as you think.

Imagine a piece of silly putty. If you poke one spot on it constantly, it will be indented and different from the rest of the smooth flat putty. But, if you mash your hand down on it, it evens out.
It is the same thing wth the human body. For example, i tried working on my abs over this last summer, and i wasnt able to get the abs i wanted, sadly, but still my stomach looked wayyyy too different form the rest of my body.

If you want a diet, select one that fits your lifestyle the most. But NEVER skip meals. That will only hurt you. Eating breakfast actually helps you lose weight, because it gets your metabolism started. Count your calories, and try to stay below 2,000. Avoid foods that aren't healthy and are hence "Empty calories", giving you no nutrients at all. Fruits are a great way to fill you up and they taste good too, without a giant calorie factor.

I think your getting lifiting weights and do cardio exercises confused..

you can do cardio as often as you like..

you should chose a body part per day if you wish to lift weights such as
Monday: chest/biceps
tuesday: legs
wednesday: back/triceps

cardio works the whole body..it gets your heart rate up..burns the fat.
lifting weights improves your strength..increase your muscles which in turn helps burn calories/fat

lifting alone won't help you reduce your waistline..if you wish to lose the weight..I would stick more to cardio and doing higher reps with light weights

hope this helps

Combine the two. Maybe a light weights progam and some cardio. Clean up the diet and you will see great results.
