Socks get smelly from wearing them inside closed shoes; the smell isn't the sweat itself but rather the product made by bacteria when they break down the sweat in anaerobe circumstances (with little or no oxygen). That's why bare feet don't smell, and why people who in winter take off their shoes & socks and cause half the room to pass out can still wear flipflops in summer without the same result -even though in summer it's warm and they sweat more. But yeah, if you wear socks in closed shoes for some time, and especially if you don't switch shoes allowing them to dry out completely in between uses, then you probably have smelly socks. That would include a good number of people at least in wintertime when sandal-wearers and bare feet are rare.

Most people put on fresh clean socks in the morning .... but after walking around with your feet crammed into shoes or boots for 16 hours or more a day the socks become smelly. So the answer to your question would be EVERYBODY wears smelly socks by the end of the day.

Well, my husband certainly does. But, that's because he has smelly feet which taint the socks. So, I think the question should be...do many people have stinky feet?
I wear my socks for a while without washing them, but my feet don't stink, so the socks are ok for a while.
I think more guys than girls are prone to wearing smelly socks.

Wheather many people wear smelly socks, or do wearing socks make them smelly? I would say that just about everyone wears smelly socks, because it's wearing them that makes them smelly.

Now weather they put them on smelly, probley only the ones that don't have a working nose would put them on.

I believe that people wear their socks and take them off at the end of the day. But they still LOOK clean...Maybe sweaty....YUCH! But by morning....dry and still clean looking......But soon as they sweat again...during their day.......SMELLY!!!!!! I change my daily....whether they look dirty or not. I don't want smelly socks or the itch that comes with them once the sweat begins again.
How come I know this? I work in the hospital and at least 40 percent of my patients come in....mainly older people.....I remove their socks and it is so obvious....They have been worn a couple times too often between washed. But you can sometimes understand this with older folks. But there are also plenty of young men.....not so much women...who so it as well.

I think everyone has smelly socks because your feet are in shoes all day and if there not your walking on the ground and picking up dirt from one place to another

i hope not, thats gross. But, im sure there are people that do. Such as the homeless, if they even have socks. I hope they have socks, even if they are smelly, at least they have warm feet.

Probably.. either because they haven't changed shoes due to exercise, working, homelessness, lazy, gross or the recyle, and reuse to get a second wearing out of them to save time on laundry!
