our school is a catholic school and they have no right to drug test him. and they did. it was weird because they didnt even notify his parents thatthey were testing him and i have a feeling theres a law against that and im suree his parents are gunna be a bit angry about it. i know they put him on probation and are gunna get him counceling. but i didnt think that a school could do that. can they?

All schools in the united states(High Schools, Middle Schools) can do just about anything like drug test or bag checks or locker checks from the time u start to the time u end!
Sorry the school has the right!

I am sure that the guidlines for this can be found in the administration paperwork and that the drug testing is legal and previous authorized by the parents when signing the contract for admission into the school.

Private schools are governed by different laws than public, when you agree to go there you basically sign away all minor rights for your kids. So they were probably within their rights to drug test him, but if he's worried about it he can still ask to see the paperwork stating that they were allowed to do this, especially without contacting his parents.

What makes you think that it is against the law for a
private / catholic school to do drug testing or that they
do not even have the "right" to do so...

They can do whatever they want because it is a PRIVATE school. Stop messing with druggies, cuz you'll end up pregnant on food stamps while he's in prison doing 5 to 10.

It depends on his age if they can or not.. If he did not say no and is over 16 then i think he would in a way be giving his consent

in today world schools have adopted a no tolerance-violience,drugs you name it.should his paretns of been notified yes however if he is 16 they canspeak with him w/o parental consent.ask yourself why is my guy getting in trouble for using and why is he my guy?
