Just like it's spelled ; )

We don't have 'ng' as an onset in English. The simplest way to say it is to take an English word, like 'bingo', and practice saying it with less and less of the beginning... take off the 'b', then cut the vowel sound to as close to nothing as possible.

Practice that alone until you can produce something that sounds like the last three letters of 'bingo'.

The 'ng' represents a single sound in English except that it's spelled with two letters (like 'sh' or 'th'). The problem is this sound is never at the beginning of any English word, so it's difficult to pronounce by itself only because you haven't had any practice doing it.

'Ng' is related to both 'n' and 'm'. 'M' is formed with your lips, 'n' is formed with the tip of your tongue touching the top of your mouth, and 'ng' in almost the same way but with the back of your tongue against the back of your mouth. Put your tongue in that position and hum - that's all there is to it.

Once you do it a few times it gets easy and natural and you'll be saying Ngo's name perfectly. You can also amaze your friends by being able to pronounce 'ping pong' backwards, as in 'ngop ngip', which you would swear is a Vietnamese phrase.

Can you pronounce the word sing? Then, leave out the 'si', and follow the ng with the 'o' in 'low'.
