Full healing-2 to 3 weeks.
Usually the sting is gone around 4-5 days, about the time it decides its time to flake. Flaking takes 1-3 days to complete, then usually the tattoo just feels "tight" if it dries out.
As for lifting things, I would wait until the flaking process is over. If you prematurely pull the flakes loose or rub on them, you can pull color out of the tattoo, and you can even cause scabbing. You don't want a splotchy tattoo!
My recommendations for quicker healing:
I use Black Cat products now, I used to just use aquaphor:
1.Leave the bandage on for 2 hours.
2. Immediately take a warm shower after the removal of the dressing, end the shower with a cold spray onto where ever the tattoo was placed to close the pores.
3. Put a thin layer of aquaphor on as needed, to keep the tattoo moist, but not oversaturated. You should not be able to leave deep streaks in the smooth glossy finish.
4. Wash the tattoo with antibacterial soap (I like Black Cat's green soap mixture) 3-5 times a day.
5. When the tattoo starts to flake, switch over to a white scentless non-aloe lotion such as lubriderm or Curel.
6.Moisturize as needed.
Do not use antibiotic ointments! They draw impurites from the skin...like INK. Also, a layer of aquaphor will prevent bacterial invasion after a wash with the soap.
Do not use Aloe! Again, it is a drawing agent, and will help in the removal of your investment!
Do not submerge your tattoo for the first two weeks. The skin is still very open! Especially not a good idea with chlorinated water.
Do not use scented lotions-They can aggrivate the skin and slow deep healing.
Good luck!!

I have actually heard that you do not use neosporin on fresh tattoos because it causes the skin to heal faster than it should, or something to that effect. I've found that if you keep it moisturized for the first couple days, but not covered, it seems to heal a little more quickly. But generally a week or two. And it's generally pretty sore immediately afterwards. But if you're getting a large tattoo, nothing beats the post-tattoo nap.

What part of the arm? Different areas see different amounts of abuse in the course of a normal day. And how much weight? How much stretching?
With respect to healing, I'm super-paranoid for the first day - trying not to bump anything, forcing myself to sleep with it facing up & getting air, etc. Day 2 -4 I am cautious with it - the tattoo generally still stings anyhow. I can lift monitors, computers & light stuff. Day 4-10 I get close to my normal weight (I work out a bit) but still try not to abuse the area. By week two to three I'm back to normal.
And of course, through all of this pursue the aftercare your artist gave you. Sure, there is good information here, but there is also bad. If you're not really familiar with the reasons for the do's & don'ts, it might be hard to tell them apart.

A week or so, is about the time for the healing process so work. My husband is a tattoo artist, so i hear questions like this all the time. Yes of course you can, but if it stretches your skin where the tattoo is, it might feel a little pain, but not much just because you are pulling on it. Any more questions, feel free to email me. Hope i helped ya :)

It depends on the skin type but it's no more than 20-5 days. The first 3 days are the painful one. then you should keep always it covered with some special cream for 2 weeks. Be careful not to scratch it (it's very painful believe me). Then it starts to itch really bad so use any type of body lotion at this period. And after a week or even not that much it's over. And then...enjoy your new and cool tattoo:)

Well depending upon how fast you heal is how healthy you are. I have a huge tattoo on my arm and I was fine in like 2 days. The only time it really didnt feel good and was a lil soar was the night after I got it done. Just put some neosporin on it and you will be fine!

Takes about a week or two, don't pick any scabs, be sure to use the cream they give you to put over it... or they'll tell you what to buy.
