My daughter's birthday is coming up and I am at a total loss on what to get her. She isn't walking yet due to low tone and some sensory issues (she fears falling and has to hold onto something for security) and is at about the 12 month level as far as her fine motor skills go. She is currently in early intervention for this. She, too, will not sit on a toddler sized chair or anything that you ride on as her feet don't touch the floor. She already has a mountian of books (she loves books for than toys and is really inquisitive) and doesn't comprehend coloring yet or scribbling. Any ideas?

So far I bought her a plastic pretend tea set and a Cabbage Patch Doll that has a baby bottle so we can pretend to feed her.
Oh yeah...she loves Elmo and Ernie. She has the vintage Elmo and one Ernie doll so she doesn't need anymore dolls.

My daughter crawls and has done so for about 8 months now. I forgot to mention that I am in an apartment so space is an issue. I wouldn't have room for a tunnel unless I made a fort in the corner of her room.

She has toys that make music and push toys for walking. She walks just fine with a push toy, but has yet to do it unassisted and bearing weight on both of her legs. She was a preemie people!

MegaBlocks makes lots of neat sets for children 1 and up. My sister is developmentally disabled and I know from experience you should shop based on developmental age, not actual age. My sister is 26, looks 14, and has a developmental age of 3 or 4. She still plays with toys made for under 5 year olds. Hope that helps. Good luck with your special little cutie!

I think that she might enjoy FisherPrice's LIttle People A to Z Learning Zoo. She can press any letter to hear the beginning letter of that animal’s name or the sound it makes! They can even press on the music note to hear the A-B-C song with animal sounds or press on the question mark to answer questions about the animals she meets along the way. She’ll also enjoy lots of different animal antics, like sending the monkey sliding down the tree and making the prairie dog pop up. My boys loved this when they were little. The box may say for ages 2-5, but my middle child got it when he was one (also not walking, just crawling) and he had a blast sitting and making a whole bunch of noises with the animals . He really learned quite a bit about animals and the alphabet by just playing. FisherPrice has a TON of great toys and "playsets" that your daughter will have a blast with now and in the future. Here is the link if you want to chieck out any of the onther toys and sets that they have: http://www.fisher-price.com/us/toys/toysbyage/default.asp?agegrade=
Happy Birthday to your daughter!!!

How about a personalized book? You can read it to her and kids love to hear their name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Sesame Street, Ballerina Princess, Teddy Bear Land, Little Mermaid, Farm Animals, Mother Goose, Noah's Ark and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful & unique gift... Good Luck!

You could get her a chair they have kid sized chairs at Walmart, they are made out of a hard foam and have a covering that can be taken off and washed. My daughter loves to sit in her chair to read....these chairs are low to the ground and cost at $20
have you thought about getting one of the toys that she can hold onto for walking that turns into another toy later on....this way it helps with her walking/standing skills and you get more use out of it....i cannot think of any specific names right now but I see them at walmart all the time (in the toy aisle for infants/toddlers).

what about the sesame street toys that you push the colors or numbers and one of them pops up and talks or sings. you could also do sesame street movies or other characters that she likes. go to the toddler isle at wal-mart or where ever you shop and see what they have that she would be able to interact with it will help to stimulate her mind and motor skills

I bet she'd love one of those "tunnels" to play peekaboo in.
My kids are too old for it now, but the tunnels are made of parachute material and the child can just scoot through to the other side...
She needs to start CRAWLING!⥠Working her leg muscles will be good for her.

a leapfrog or leapfrog baby may do well....they have books such as how much do you love me and some dr. seuss books for the leapfrog baby and she may like the fact that theyre interactive...you can adjust the skill level to where she is and theyre relatively affordable.
