It's been in our liquor cabinet for about 17 years. it tastes funny, but its not the normal brand i drink, so i don't know if it's just this particular brand of it or it's just gone bad. Should i throw it out?

Not really the alcohol content pretty much keeps it a "clean environment" as long as no contaminants have entered the container it has aged but not "spoiled" - aging will cause rich oaky flavors to rise to the top much like a brandy and it is prized among tequila fans (much like aged wine). To open up the flavor pour 1/2 shot into a brandy snifter and add 1/4 wedge lime or a leaf of cilantro - skip the salt and sip don't slam. This is a more sophisticated beverage.

If it has become contaminated it will have mold or other "growth" then it will need to be filtered prior to consuming - yes you can still drink it - it will now have a flavor more akin to whiskey try it with coke for a true surprise.

Um, a mixture of each little thing! Beer, tequila, rum, whiskey, vodka, and those girly beers with all the sugar. i think of those are the worst for hangovers. Yuck! They make my abdomen ill. i'm getting a hangover each and every time I drink. yet I nevertheless decide for the gold...why end?! ha ha.

It doesn't go bad at my place (no time!), but 17 years is too long, especially if opened, but even unopened, not sure and wouldn't want to chance it...
