No woman I have ever dated/related/married has been monogamous or faithful within the relationship. Many of my male & female friends have undergone tremendous betrayals by the women/men in their lives. In fact, with the exception of a few friends (all happily married) that I know, I am the only person I know who has never had a platonic/sexual 'affair' while in a loving relationship with someone of the opposite sex.

Anyone else out there practice what they preach in this area? And if so, how do you deal with feeling like you're in the minority?

maybe its the women you are seeking out.

I Don't feel like a minority, I guess its because I associate mostly with married couples in my church and my neighborhood.

I do feel like a minority when it comes to certain beliefs and opinions. Ive been married going on 15 yrs, we have always been faithful to one another. I think this is led by example, hubby parents married almost 50 yr, mine almost 40. Committment doesnt seem to be taught in todays society.

THERE is a women who will be faithful to you. Have you sat down and made a list of all these women who havent been and try to find the one characteristic they all have in common and next time when dating someone choose someone who doesnt have that bad characteristic! GOOD LUCK!

OK, well, I'm kind of cheating because I'm not Christian. However, my boyfriend is.

But I think the answer to your question goes beyond religion. It's very much a human thing.

We tend to forget that attraction is VERY human. There are six billion plus people on this planet, and to think we will never be attracted to another person is highly unrealistic. What we do with that attraction is the issue. Many people are unprepared to develop an attraction to another person, so they get caught up in the chemical reaction that is sexual and emotional attraction. And they screw up (literally and figuratively).

There are a lot of people who practice what they preach . . . until they find themselves in this situation.

Personally, I know both my future husband and I will encounter attraction to other people at some point in our relationship, and I'm trying to be as prepared for that as I can be. And I think this will help us both walk the walk (to carry on the cliches).

I hope this helps.

I pray when I feel like i'm in the minority and talk to other women that are in the minority. This is what helps me get through the hard times. So praying and reading my Bible helps me tremendously. Though I don't believe in Monogamous relationship. I do go though trials as a Christians.

Actually, most of the Christian women (except 1 or 2) I know have never cheated on their spouses. I have this feeling that you need to be looking in different places if you can't find a person who will be faithful to you!!

It is both possible and expected in the Christian community. That said, I am not naive enough to believe that premarital and extramarital sex is not happening, nor do I wish to shortchange the impact of the betrayal involved.
There are people waiting until marriage. How many? Difficult to tell.

I do. I don't really dwell on it. In fact I've not really ever been bothered by it.

Sex is more appealing if it is taboo.

Religion does a good job on tabooing it
