We found a Gentle Naturals brand baby excema cream and excema baby wash at wal-mart. It is reasonably priced and works well for our kids. You can also try a bath every other day instead of every day, and don't dry your child- lightly wrap your child in a towel, then apply the cream while they are wet...this holds the moisture in and the oils needed for healthy skin. Good Luck!

My little boy had eczema on his cheeks. I was not sure what method to use but I didn't want to make my boy go through any surgery treatments at this young age. Some suggested a plastic surgeon since it was in a very visible location but our family doctor recommend this natural guide.

My 14 year old has eczema, and after 14 years of cream after cream, and ointment after ointment-, and Dermatologist after dermatologist- I would recommend doing your research regarding the dermatologist in your area to find one who specializes in children and eczema- treatment from your regular pediatrician will not help. Many of the over the counter suggestions were immediately stopped when we went to the specialist. Most pediatricians recommend hydro-cortisone and Eucerin lotion- both really will not work. and make matters worse. One of the best things you can use to moisturize your baby is plain mineral oil- and petroleum jelly- many of the chemicals found in the "good smelling" lotions, baths etc. make it worse- I could go on for days about the things that we have learned through trial and error over the years! Good luck, and find that specialist!

I just asked a similar question for my sister who has uncontrollable eczema. Check out my Q&A's,if you want, to see what answers I got.
My sister, brother, nephew, and two sons all have/had eczema.
My sister has been getting cortizone shots for years. It cured her arms but has only a very temporary effect on her legs.
My brother had it terrible as a child but went away completely when he was a teen.
My nephew has very severe eczema and has tried every treatment, cream, medication and nothing completely takes it away. He gets it much worse in the summer because he gets wet more.
My boys have it mildly. They get it worse in the winter when they don't put cream on EVERYDAY. Both use different brands because what works on one doesn't work on the other.
With that said, only with time and lots of experimenting will you learn to control and treat your child's eczema. A dermatologist will be the most helpful on where to begin depending on his/her severity.

Along with some of the other good suggestions, don't use products with scent. It can irritate the eczema. Also, after swimming in a pool or the ocean rinse well! You might try cutting out cows milk if you can switch to soy. Milk aggrivates my niece and nephew whom both have bad eczema. Good Luck!

My daughter had htis problem, so bad I finally took her to see a pediatric dermatologist. unfortuneately, there is not a whole lot you can do about it. He did give me a prescription hydrocortisone cream, which helps when she has a major breakout. other than that, he helped me identify the triggers of her eczema - hers are sand, suntan lotion, extended exposure to water (like pools and the ocean) - and then I just made sure I bathed her thoroughly after we went to the beach, etc, which helped a bit. Good luck!

My nephew has eczema as well and we searched high and low for something to help--we finally found Vanilla bubble bath from Avon works well but just recently we found at Wal-mart, the Gentle Naturals line of baby eczema treatments, baby wash and baby cream and they are very very good.

My nine month old has it too and we use Mustela's Stelatopia cream. Within an hour after putting the cream on the redness disappears and within a day or two the patches are gone. We also use Eucerin's Aquaphor ointment on his cheeks anytime we go outside and this helps to prevent it from flaring up.

Ok everyone has great answers. My daughter has eczema. I have lowered her milk intake and she hasn't broken out since then. When she does berak out I have medicine from my doctor. Only one kind works for her it is called Triamonocilone or something like that. I also use the Aveeno Oatmeal bath. Try that. You do need to keep his skin moisterized. I have to say that I did realize that reducing her milk intake has helped a lot. So try that. He is young so you could reduce it to like 16 ounces a day. Good Luck.

Your pediatrician can give you a prescription for cream to help better than the over the counter stuff.
