Why would he invite me over when he knows I like him, and then hook up with another random girl?

This guy who I've liked since October finally broke up with his girlfriend of 9mo. He found out after I drunkenly blabed to his roommate that I had a crush on him on New Years of this year. Two days later I get a call from him (he had never called me before) and all he asked was some pointless question about one of our classes together that literally anyone could have answered. We talked some in class, but never really about anything meaningful or personal. But this week, he posted a blog that he needed help with a project, so I answered it & got a call from him about an hour later giving me directions to his house. While I was there he invited me to his St. Pat's after party on sat & said he would give me a call to let me know when it was. He ended up texting me the night of w/ more details. When I got there we took shots & he was real drunk &kinda flirting w/ me but then 15min later a random wasted girl shows up &after we play several rounds of card games dissapears downstairs w/ him

Ps. not to sound b*tchy but the girl was not cute at all, and so drunk that she sounded like she was snoring while sitting up concious... Guys, is it at all possible that maybe he likes me, but just wanted some random *** to cope with his fresh break up, while just wanting to take it slow with me? Or did he do that to make sure I knew he didn't like me like that? But the thing is, he's such a nice guy that I find the second senario hard to comprehend...PLEASE HELP and BE SPECIFIC.

There are two possibilities:

1) He thinks of you as "just a friend" -- he likes you, but not romantically.

2) He's a playah and he's messing with your mind.

You need to find out which of these it is, and fast. If you don't and it's option #2 he can do you some real emotional damage. If it's option #1 you need to decide whether or not you can be satisfied with being his friend (as opposed to girlfriend).
