I don't think it is literally a "curse" word, unless you were putting a curse on someone in the name of Jesus.
Saying "Oh Jesus" if you hit your thumb with a hammer or saw a car speeding at you, may be inappropriate but isn't a curse; and it may very well be using the name of Christ in vain.
It might also, however, be an instantaneous plea for help from Jesus?

It was taboo to use the name of god, and since your "religious leader" is also your god, well... yeah, it was a taboo word.. And since "cursing' and "using the name of the lord in vain" are synonymous in Christianity, well, there you have it.

Are you just assuming this because you live in this culture. Maybe they do it in other cultures. People say Holy Cow! Not quite the same, but similar. They may "oh siddartha, what the hell just happened?" Be interesting to find out.

all i know is that i love the Name of Jesus - it is a Name that is above all other Names !!

I find it a little hard thinking "Moses on a crutch!" could be turned into any form of cussing, whereas "christ on a crutch" has more of an impact.

Do you know this for a fact, or just your personal beliefs?
How do you know that kids in India aren't saying stuff about their deities the same way? Or Buddhists, or whatever?
