If you have Nero installed, check if there is a program called Nero Recode that came with it if not don't worry.

If you want to back up your legally owned copies of the movie you can try my advice, it might work.
Download Dvdfab Decrypter from the site below.
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

Install it and open it from the menu.

Have it decrypt to your hard drive ( Insert the disk into your dvd-writer/dvd-rom. Open DVDFAB decrypter. Take note of the path at the field TARGET. Click START).

Then use dvd-shrink to make a back up of the files on the hard drive (OPEN FILES and show it where the dvd was decrypted to). Take out the subtitles you don't want and some of the sound tracks to increase the quality, click BACK UP. If you are confused try the tutorials at the DVD Shrink Site
http://www.dvdshrink.org/

DVD SHRINK (this is where you download it)

Otherwise try Ripit4me. Instructions and other downloads at the website.

The reason for the shrink technique is to compress the dvd from dual layer (DVD-9) to single layer (DVD-5) which is a much cheaper media. The compress will affect the picture quality so taking out some of the unnecasary soundtracks or lowering the quality of the special features will increase the quality of the end result. If you don't want the quality degraded you can get dual layer disks but they are more expensive and sometimes not reliable for playback on a set top dvd player.

Instead of DVD shrink you can try CloneDVD which is slightly better than Shrink DVD but it costs money. You can download the 21 Day trial if shrink is not what you are looking for.

i will not condone the unlawful stuff, in spite of the undeniable fact that the topics you're having may nicely be with reference to the performance of your computer. Video rendering is at best CPU huge. 14 Hours does look severe, so may recommend that you want more beneficial memory and or a short processor. The sound song issue may nicely be resolved with this, if no longer, thenthe software itself may have topics with syncing.
