That could lead to artificial, legendary development, rather than supplementary historical information.

Some were written after, the Majority were, but some were written at the time of Muhammad Peace be Upon Him as well.

*NONE* of the writings attributed to or about the Prophet (grtbg) were written during his lifetime for the simple reason that he was illiterate. All were collected and formalized afterwards by other people, some texts not reaching their current form until he had been dead for 2 centuries.
