From H.H. the Dalai Lama:

Religion is like going out to dinner with friends. Everyone may order something different, but everyone can still sit at the same table.
This is my simple religion:
There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy.
Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

I wish everyone thought this way.

How people believe that some sort of internal source of peace and righteousness exist is beyond me. I am a sinner. I know I am. I could never believe that a wretch like me could save myself from my iniquity. I need Jesus and so does everyone else whether they believe in Him or not.

The idea that all religions are the same is the most outrageous and ignorant statement that I have ever heard. Would you die trying to get someone next to you to order the same thing as you at a dinner table? That is a stupid analigy. I guess if you wanted to think of it that way...one person at the table is eating food and the rest are eating rat poison. This question is far too important to accept a "feel-good" answer. I doubt the intellegence of anyone who accepts this concept. This is a lie straight from hell. Satan is smart enough to come up with something stupid that masses will embrace without question. That sound so easy...it must be true. Sure.

It sounds like a philosophy. Practical maybe, but utterly lacking is the aspect of knowledge (sort of like Buddhism). If you sit at a table and can’t question the others doctrines then what’s the use? To me religion is about getting answers and not agreeing with everyone just to be kind. There are bad things in the universe and I want to know why, and “happiness” is no answer.

God doesn't follow your rules...how you think it should be. God made the rules we decide weather to follow them or not.

It's like the laws here on earth. If you break a law and get caught it doesn't matter if you tell the judge, "But judge, I don't agree with that law." Do you think the judge will let you off because you don't agree with the law?

The Bible is clear on how we get to Heaven.

good luck Stumpy, but you can be sure that being your own god is not the answer. You will see, kindness is good but it takes more than kindness to have successful living on earth.

And it takes the Blood of Jesus Christ to wash away your sins, and give you eternal life.

Oh, you mean what do I think of re-interpreting the bible when all I have to do is look at the thousands of different denominations, perhaps your faith is faltering or you need some sleep?
