"Once a citizen turns 70 they must agree with my administration 100%. If not, they will be sent to a secluded prision and tortured once a day, for the rest of their lives."
Let's even say that this president has actually been good for the country in most areas. Good for the economy, foreign relations, crime, etc. His justification for this law is that he is in no way forcing you to agree with his administration, but the consequence is there for not agreeing.
Would this be a president you would be happy to defend to others?
(And if you don't know why this question is in the religion section, just consider it a little longer).

Wow, the people missing the allegory gene have come out tonight.
If I have to spell it out...
This is a fictitional president and a fictitional situation that parallels the Christian defense of god and hell.
I just hope that the people who aren't posting answers do so because they're too busy actually thinking.

Alright, I'm going to give this a day and try again. Maybe I'll emphasize that THIS IS ONLY A METAPHOR.
I don't actually expect a president would, or even could, pass a law like this.
Seriously. I'm a little disappointed with most of the answerers here that they just didn't seem to get it.

You are talking about a group that mostly do what SOMEONE tells them to do rather than think for themselves. They have historically voted democrat, so if you think that their religion determines their vote, you are misled.
They are often SCARED by the AARP, which IS part of the Democrat party machine - watch the $$$, and BELIEVE that the Republicans will dismantle Social Security and Medicare.
Now, presidents can't legislate. Only congress is empowered by the constitution of the US to pass laws, though the courts have gotten away with usurping that power.

I just don't get the "turns 70" part. With the connection you're making, it would be expected the citizen accepts the administration 100% from birth.

The big flaw here is that the president would be a human. Which means he is not perfect in anyway, shape or form. This has nothing to do with religion.

First issue is that the President doesn't make laws, Congress does. Second issue is, where the hell did you come up with this ?!?!

Your president has no power to pass laws, the federal and judicial system are completely separate entities. I'm not even American and I know, so how stupid does that make you?

Yeah, but only if he had lain down his life in payment for my transgressions and then risen from the dead to validate his claims.
If he had already paid for my freedom and I rejected it, I'd deserve to be there and probably feel like an idiot to boot.
