the message: we have let our technological advances blow up our egos, to the point where one feels invincible, and this ego has given us a general distaste for reasoning and logic.
king was a minister i believe, he followed closely what the bible preached (peace, love, all that beautiful stuff) he wanted to show people that their faith; their god, was being overruled by military power and artilary.
