None.

It is a separate branch, under the Department of Homeland Security (not the Department of Defense).

In times of war, the Coast Guard could be transferred to military duty, in which case it would likely be put under Navy control.

The Coast Guard is thier own branch. There is the Army, the Marines, the Airforce, the Navy and the Coast Guard. When I want to school for my Army job I was at a Dept. of Defense school for all branches of military service. Coast Guard are thier own.

The US Coast Guard is a military branch all on its own. During times of declared war they come under US Navy control because the Navy is about blue water operations and the Coast Guard is about brown water operations and this gives the Navy an experienced cadre of people who know about shallow water operations right now.

The Coast Guard is kind of weird because it's its own branch, but it falls under Homeland Security. It will fall under Department of Defense if needed for actual wartime actions/operations.

The United States Coast Guard is a military branch. It is a multi-mission organization. It's responsibilities are law enforcement, search and rescue and others. In the case of war, the USCG performs convoy duty. search and rescue during naval operations and other tasks.
