I was driving home from work tonight, it was dark and the road I was on was not well light. I accidently hit a cat that was eating some roadkill in the middle of the road. I turned the corner and the cat was right there. I tried avoiding it, but I couldn't.

I feel like a horrible person. I turned around and went back and forth twice to see if it was there. It wasn't and it wasn't in the middle of the road either.

I then drove away. But I feel so bad. Did I do the right thing? You always hear about people finding their cats dead on the side of the road, and then cursing the ***-Hole that did it. Now, I'm the ***-Hole and I feel so bad.

It was an accident. I would never hit an animal on purpose.

You can't very well go walking around in the dark looking for where it went or even knocking on strangers doors. I hit a cat once too, & bawled my eyes out. It wasn't your fault. You could've swerved & ended up killing yourself. There's not much you could have done. Responsible pet owners don't let their pets wander around on their own. I repeat..not your fault!

Don't worry about it. If it was dark, the owner probably wasn't around to see you. I don't think you will get caught. It was the cat's fault for being in the way when you were driving home.
