Probably the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. It's fast as hell and I think it looks nice (except the inside).
A Lotus Exige comes pretty darn close too.

What's your price range? Do you want RWD or AWD? Are you planning any modifications? For a great price and easy modifying I'd suggest the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. AWD turbo, and for less than $1000 you can have about 350AWHP. For a few thousand more you can outrun pretty much any stock car out there, that includes Vipers, Vettes, Stangs etc.

The fastest car? That is still up for debate. But the Corvette, the viper, the shelbyGT500 or the Ford GT. They are about the fastest Anerican cars made.

Look into a 90's Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo. If you've never herd of this, go to www.msnautos.com and look it up for yourself. Its a pretty amazing car.

That depends on if you want Ford or Chevy or Dodge and so on and what size and how much $$$$ you want to spend.
