Yes. My friend Tom and I are plutonic. I have NO interest in him whatsoever. I know it sounds mean, but even if I try and force myself to think of him sexually, I get grossed out. He's a great guy. I am just not attracted to him at all. I think it helps that he's my boyfriend's best friend, too.
I think once we get to know people, we are attracted to certain aspects of their personalities, and we tend to have sexual thoughts about them based on that attraction. But the slightest attraction shouldn't be enough to catapult us beyond friendship. Just a thought.

Rent "When Harry Met Sally." Harry explains this quite well. The gist: a man and a woman can only be friends when both parties have zero attraction to the other. Sexual chemistry messes with everything. I can vouch for this from personal experience. If one of the parties is attracted to the other, it messes with the entire dynamic of the relationship. The one who is "liked" will have the upper hand, so to speak, and in a true friendship, there is no upper or under hand - you're equals.

I think it is very possible but, it depends on the situation. "Friends" who go hang out at a bar or go for lunch or something or "friends" who get cozy at home and watch a movie?? I am a firm believer that men and women CAN just be friends but not all people have the same morals as I do.

It is very possible. I have guy friends that are ONLY friends and nothing else. I'm happily married and would never think about being with anyone else. I think of my guy friends as being more like brothers then anything else and therefore those thoughts would never be there.

yes, especially if one of them is gay. but if you all are both straight, it is very unlikely the friendship will last for a long period. because if you like that person enough to hang out with him/her for years. what's stopping either one of you from going any further. at least one of you will want to at some point in the relationship

Very. Most of my friends in high school were guys. I still have several guy friends and my husband knows we are just friends and they have become my husbands friends also. (He was not from here)

Very possible. I've had plenty of man/woman relationships that were never sexual.
