Jesus Christ commanded the Church in Matthew 28:19-20:
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
The Catholic Church has been doing this for almost 2,000 years.
With love in Christ.

Good question. It is well documented that the Catholic church was the first Christian Church, so for many, many years in order to be Christian you would have to be Catholic. After the Romans embraced Catholicism they spread it though out most of Europe. Many of the Barbarian tribes or people then became Catholic Christians. And into England, again, with the Romans. And so the explorers that came to the new world were for the most part Catholics. From Spain, Italy, Portugal and others. Etc.

I have no idea, I mean a religion that is founded on a dead guy rising up three days after he died and having itself corrupted into every mainstream governmental agency known to man with outrageous consequences every time, not to mention it's obvious contempt and absurdity when placed next to science, all for what? The fear that maybe we'll go to hell. I got news for you, if life hasn't toughened you up for hell, then you're either too pampered or you're a bad ***, and if you are a bad ***, then you're ready for hell. So I say who cares if christianity is right or wrong, I'm ready for anything, and although I am 100 percent sure that they are full of it, I would just like to say that I've been to hell and back, so yes, hell is real, heaven is real, I'd choose heaven over hell, but the only thing that is more mundane than either is life, and the only thing better is pure wisdom. The wisdom that knows the difference between heaven and hell. The mind and the will that can carry one self from either corridor. Oh yeah baby, it f"in rocks and it's tubular-city. Yeah!

Why is catholicism widespread throughout the world.?
BECAUSE THERE IS NO BIGGER SCAM ON PLANET EARTH THAN THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.
This “Vicar of Christ” is not the Catholic Pope. The only Biblical “Vicar of Christ” is the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, Teacher (John 14:26) and guide into all truth (John 16:13).
1 billions+ are trusting in deceptive gospel (catechism) according to Rome that are worthless.

Because Roman Emporer Constantine accepted Christianity and ordered it spread across the Eastern and Western Empires. Eventually it settled in Rome and split with the Eastern Church int he Schism.
Since Rome held most of the political power during the dark ages, middle ages and Renaissance, and during the discovery of the new world, Catholicism was forced on indigenous populations anywhere that the Church could send missionaries and armies.
Answer: Missionaries and armies loyal to the Church preached to and forced others to convert at swords and gun point.

Well the Spanish Armada was huge and the conquistadors went all over the world. After Spain conquered, they sent the monks, and priests to convert to locals. Those who refused were killed. Let's not forget the Inquisition.

The promises that Jesus made when He founded His Church:
- The gates of Hell would not prevail against His Church
- It would be a light to the world
- His Church was to spread the gospel to all nations
- Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to guide the Church in all truth
- Jesus promised that He would always be with His Church until the end of time

Money and power.
Catholicism wasn't Jesus's idea, it was Paul's. He was the promoter who used his interpretations of Jesus's actions and put words in his mouth to create a church that suited his purposes.
