A guy friend of mine with whom I've hooked up before and been interested in begged me to come visit him in another city. He gave all the signs that it was about more than just friends. When I got there he didn't pay any special attention to me and seemed to not care that I had come all that way just to see him. What's with the total reversal of treatment? Why the mixed messages? Why beg me to come visit when he's not going to pay much attention to me once I'm there?

If you are actually interested in this guy, try being distant and unavailable. My guess is that he really wasn't as interested in seeing you as seeing if he could get you to come. He was just testing you to see how secure he should feel. Next time he invites you, have something else to do... the more mundane the better ("sorry Skip, I already made plans that weekend. I'm helping my dad aerate the lawn").

OR... forget about the guy because he is a player.

Personally, I hate head games.

Were you physical with him later on during the trip? He just asked you there for a "familiar long distance booty call". That doesn't seem very friendly to me. I'd cut ties of communication with this guy, forget he exists.

Maybe he just wants you to be around him
