You are not wasting money. Some store brand products are just yucky. I have tried some cheaper foods, and wound up throwing it away, so I really did not save. As far as sneakers, I am with you. If I get a cheap pair at wal mart or payless, i have to replace them in a few months. I have had my good old Nikes for over a year.
Same for dog food, if i get a cheaper brand for the dogs , they turn their nose up at it.
The old saying goes " you get what you paid for" A few more cents for cereal or an extra 10 bucks for sneakers is worth it.
Tell your friends it is your money. Also tell them, that you don't pay full price for the brand name items , tell them you check the sales flyer. It is wiser to never pay full price.

If you're buying Kellogg's cereal and Nike shoes, you're not managing your money well. Kellogg's Corn Flakes and off-brand Corn Flakes are the same thing. You couldn't tell the difference if you did a blind taste test. And with the shoes, Nikes are made in sweatshops in Asia just like all other shoes, and no, Nike does not use a higher-quality sweatshop, they just charge you more for the logo on their shoes.
And with the car thing, if you must have a newer-model car, don't buy new, get a 1 year old or several-months old used car. The depreciation on cars is insane. A new car may cost $16,000, but drive it off the lot and sell it with 5000 miles on it and the price plummets.
But yeah, people should stay out of your business. But it is annoying to watch people mismanage their money, rich and poor alike. "If you're just going to waste it, give it to me", you know?

It makes a lot of sense to buy store brands on some products. The store brands are every bit as good and usually much cheaper. However, you do have a valid point that sometimes the name brand reall is that much better. If you can afford the name brand, buy it. Since you mentioned that you are on a limited income, it may make sense to consider buying store brands when you can. There have been comparison tests done recently that show in many cases the stores brand are as good or even better.
You may also want to consider that the people who are telling you that you are stupid are really looking out for your best interests. They may feel that you are in danger of putting yourself in debt and want to help they just haven't found the right way of going about it.

when it comes to certain products i agree with you that you should by name brands especially with clothing and some electronics because you get a better product that will last alot longer than knock off brands, when it comes to food i am behind you 100% because most generic brands of foods taste like s*%t. as for cars though no need to buy new just buy 1 that's 2-3 yrs old that way you still get a fairly new car but are not paying top dollar and if the car had any defects they have been repaired under warranty already

my partner always wants to get the best brands whereas I tend to not care and buy the cheaper brands. I have noticed that they really are better and they really do last longer, thats why you pay more, so I think it is worth it with some things. But other things like toilet paper or paper towels you really dont need the best brand because the cheaper one do the job just the same. I dont see why other people should call you stupid and wrong though.

If you're not asking anyone for money or complaining about your financial state, nobody needs to make their opinion known. Buy the name-brand products and budget in other places.
P.S.: Big secret - lots of name-brand manufacturers produce private label (store brand) foods. It really IS the same thing.

Its your money to spend as you like. I wonder why they are questioning you....are you in debt or not meeting your financial responsibility's? Being a savvy shopper doesn't necessarily mean buying top brand names, sometimes they are not good value for money. And lets face it people look very silly walking about in Brand Name everything. There is a middle road.

Well, people should stay out of your financial business. However . . . .
1) You are asking people for advice about your financial business, so how can people stay out of your business?
2) Do you get financial assistance? If you do, then yes, you are wasting money, and people don't mind their business because you are using their taxes to pay too much for stuff. If you don't . . . . why are you on a fixed income?
I don't think you are stupid or wrong, but I think you are making an unwise decision. And if you don't improve your spending habits, things won't change.
And it isn't expensive to get an old car fixed if you maintain it regularly. Just an example of improving your spending habits.
And by the way, I have a ton of debt. I've had to change my spending habits to work to get out of debt. :)

you should separate out the conception of communism with the actuality of communism because that's practiced. in accordance to Marx and Engels, at the same time as the staff overthrow the ruling classification, they are going to create a clean ruling classification - it will be called the Dictatorship of the Proletariat (proletariat is yet another note for workers). basically substituting one set of rulers for yet another. This team is a transition (a step in the route of) an proper communist state. This team can should be overthrown besides until eventually real communism is done. in case you look in undemanding words at idea, no communist state has ever been finished because the revolution not in any respect were given previous the Dictatorship of the staff. Your dad is real. potential does finally end up in the incorrect palms - the states have a tendency to sink into dictatorships/totalitarian states. I believe him, i do not imagine any real communist united states might want to evolve because a small team of human beings will always take administration. maximum of the human beings who grab potential have a tendency to envision state (united states) run personality cults. this implies, a lot of time and money is used to promote them (and their acquaintances) because the real saviours of the country - without them the country may sink into chaos. also at the same time as human beings take over a rustic, that's always finished at the same time as the country is in turmoil. There generally should be a breakdown of regulation and order and an finished lack of religion in the authorities. those who take potential are more beneficial useful organised than some thing else and keen to kill or reformatory everyone who disagrees with them. concern keeps human beings from speaking and appearing. How do they get a lot potential? They funnel maximum of the country's money into their personal own initiatives. Bribes, secret police (look up the Stasi in East Germany or the Stalin's secret police to study more beneficial about how they were used to terrorize the populations), propoganda (administration over information, radio, television) so that you in undemanding words heard the authorities's area, administration preparation (administration the minds of the more youthful so that they study in undemanding words about what you want them to study). sturdy question. If this isn't clean (that's a really not straightforward topic to wrap your mind round) enable me know and that i'll target to make certain a thanks to write down it a touch clearer.
