i just got a shih tzu pug mix pup that is 5-6 months old he was abused in previous home is why i got him because i cannot stand to see anything mistreated i took him to the vet today and got shots and appointment for him to be fixed my question is is he still young enough for my family to get him over his snappish behavior hes finally letting me hold him for short periods of time but he doesnt have no faith or trust im hoping that he will overcome this because i plan on keeping him but i dont want a dog that will bite what is oppinion of what i should do to earn his trust and will i be able to earn his trust i finally got all the tangles out of his hair took me most of the day yesterday little at a time because he would bite at me after a couple minutes hes doing better today but still really snappish what is your oppinion

YES:) We have a 4 yo foster min pin, who marked at his old house, took food from people, and got snippy quite often with them...he tried that at our house and he was quickly corrected. And it really only took a matter of a few days before he understood it's not tolerated in his new home with us.

Give this guy time, and he will learn whats ok and whats not with you.

He's definitely young enough.

It's not ''bad behavior'', in his situation. He has to realize he can trust you, and that you & your family won't neglect/abuse him.

It can take time, but he will realize life's better now, and the family he's with now, is trustworthy.

Taking in an abused animal, patience is a requirement.

Yes you can get him over his bad behavior. It took my gf about a year for her abused dog to respond and be a nice animal. As for grooming him, muzzle him and save your hands.
