Yes, it is genetic, i know someone who has two boys who have schizophrenia. They werent diagnosed until they were older, but research shows it can begin at a very young age, even age two. but that is rare. :)

There is a condition called childhood schizophrenia. I believe that schizophrenia has a genetic predisposition which makes a child more vulnerable to the disease.

Schizophrenia is rarely diagnosed in children. Symptoms will generally begin to start to show up in late teens to early twenties. My understanding is that like bipolar disorder and other mental health disorders that are related to chemical imbalances in the brain, the are believed to be inherietable.
