yes they can. I did - I had my mothers permission but reasonably you are considered an adult at 16 and can move out anyway. Getting a mortgage....now that is a different matter!

You might not like what I write but, here goes. Know that I say it with a kind heart and have raised three 16 year olds.... No 16 year old, or very few, want to live at home. You're half way between adult and child and its that half-way that causes problems with your family. With today's families, parents working all kinds of hours, having tons of agendas and not knowing how to raise a teen...we don't always do what is best for the situation. We do make mistakes - but its hard to admit it to a teen. There's no books written on teens or how to raise them...but we love them.
Ok, now having said that, be very careful about moving out at your age. If you get emancipated, its good but not good as well. If your being abused in any way, this is a reason to leave. However, can you look at alternatives, like relatives, a family of one of your friends or a teacher (same sex).
I left home at the age of 18 with two black eyes...if you know what I mean. It was the first time my dad had seen the violence...and the last. It was difficult and that was years and years ago...and I was two years older.
Today, you'll have a hard road to travel but it can be done. No matter what you do or where you go - stay connected, stay in school and if you ever - ever need help...contact me through this site. Good luck.

You dont need to worry about moving out just yet, you are not old enough you have to go into alot of legal things to get out of the house that are going to take way more then your apartment money.. You should try finding a hobby that takes you away from home in the evenings.. I know it sucks at home, we all went threw that in life.. I wanted out so bad when I was 16 but look at the bright side you only have 2 more years to mooch off your parents.. Good luck and it really does suck when you are out cause you have to pay your own bills....

If you have parental permission, yes! Ask yourself on a practical level though-
(a) although you say you have the money for the deposit and first months rent do you have the means to support yourself (ie job and income) to pay the following months/years rent.
(b) do you have enough life skills to do laundry and cook food. Ive lived in house shares where tenants thought it was ok to cook chicken on the rungs of an oven shelf, thought they could microwave a jacket potato in 5 minutes and wondered why it wasn't cooked yet put a pasty on for 3 minutes and wondered why I was complaining about smoke billowing up the stairs.
Think about getting into a house share because landlord pays all the bills you just pay 1 lot of rent every week.
Something else that you need to consider is do you want to move out of your parents house to make noise, get drunk, play music late at night, do drugs because if you piss your neighbours off you wont keep a tenancy for very long.

At 16 I don't think you can move out on own. You must be 18 to sign a lease for a apartment. Plus I do not think you make enough money to live on your own. Your just going thru a phase in your life. Chill out and stay where you are for 2 more years. Then you can move out. Livin on your own costs more then you realize.

dont know where your from but her in UK i did, i moved out on my 16th birthday and got my own three bed house (i worked mind you) and got into thousands worth of debt!!!! was it worth it ???no!!!!
i hated my parents more than anything and was determined to move out and get independace but truth is its not easy, its hard, its scary and if i could go back tomorow i would and im 22 now expecting my 2nd child but id still go back home in a heart beat!!! ppl think they have it hard at home but living alone is harder than you could ever imagine!!
But if you still want to move out then my advice is get a bedsit!! you pay one lot of rent and all the bills are included in it..... from 16 -22 you change more than you could ever imagine. What seemed like a good idea at 16 will look like a stupid one at 22..... good luck tho, i know you cant be told,,,, i couldnt either,,, a mistake you have to make yourself.

n the uk you can live on your own, but the others may be rigght in that a landlord may not allow you to have a lease...maybe look for a flat share or a room to share in a house. its a tough world once you are out there on your own and do not underestimate the cost of living... if family life is abusive id say get out, but if its just normal teenage stuff maybe you should stay for a bit longer

Technically sure.. human beings might think of that sixteen years previous is purely too youthful to possess a house... yet in my view, it does not count on age even @ sixteen years previous possessing own abode, yet quite that's the way you carry your self.... in case you've gotten sufficient funds and help your costs then you definately could have one... recommendations you interior the Philippines you could own your own abode even at 10.... as long as you pays taxes to the government....

i think you may be able to do so if you are emancipated from your family...but even then it might be hard because there are still age limits on other things out there that might make it very difficult to get your own place. consider living with another reletive first to see if the situation changes at all.
