Cancel the card. There's nothing you or the authorities can do to bring these people to justice. Usually, they are overseas, and the authorities where they're from won't lift a finger to help you.

A lottery works by having people participate by buying tickets or "lots" for a specific amount, say $1. The payout is a percentage of the total amount of lots sold. Multiple winners are awarded a para-mutual prize. You never will win any kind of lottery without actively participating. Also, everybody gets this e-mail through whatever means the scammers come up with to get your e-mail address. Also, if you win a legitimate lottery, you will never be asked to pay any processing fee.

Just cancel the card, and hope they haven't taken steps to further steal your identity.

There's no such thing as "free lotto". Why would they ask you for money if you have won? I'm sorry to say but if you were silly enough to give them your credit card details then you deserve to be scammed. How about you use your child support for your children instead of gambling.

You need to contact the Better Business Bureau. Also, did these people claim to be affiliated with your state lottery or with a real company that you've heard of? If so, you need to contact the real lottery commission, or the real company that these people are claiming to be with, and let them know. Call your credit card company or the child support agency and let them know what's going on so they will stop allowing the payments to come out!
