For some reason my CD Writer ( burner ) is not being read by my computer anymore. Anyone know why or how I can get it to be read again?

Could be dead... If it isn't reading or writing and the driver says that it is working correctly, the laser is probably out of phase or not working anymore. I've seen a lot more of these over the past couple of years than the old school drives. If you have another computer or a friend who is willing to plug it into their machine to test it and see if works there. If it doesn't work there, probably easy enough to get a new one.

DUDE!!!

I have the same problem.

I tried everything, using other programs, checking hard connections, everything.

Then I ran an anti-virus scan, and I discovered a new virus.

Removing it seemed to fix the problem.

So you can try that. Depending on your situation it may be a different problem. You can also try other commercial programs. Are you using the basic writer provided by windows? The one where you drag and drop into a temporary folder and then click "Write these files to CD"? If not and you are using another program then the program is the problem. Otherwise try another program.

Add/remove hardware might be able to find and configure it without any CD's. If not, see if your computer manufacturer or CD writer manufacturer will give you a reinstall disk.
