The average length for standard men's putters is 35" and I wish I could simply just tell you to use the 35" but golf, and especially putting, is all about feel and confidence. You need to find a putter and a length that you feel comfortable with and then you will be able to putt with greater accuracy and more confidence. Don't stick to any standard designation for putter lengths and height. Just find something you are comfortable with and stick with it. I use a 37" putter(I'm 6'2") that I had to have extended since the manufacturer only made up to 36" but the $10 I spent to get it lengthened was the best money I've ever spent. I didn't like the feel of a belly putter but I was also uncomfortable with the standard 35" putters in the shop. I found a length that allowed me to set up the way I wanted and hit my putts with confidence. Most golf magazines and internet advice will tell you to use a shorter putter to reduce problems with alignment and arm angles. But again you have to find something that you feel comfortable with and will allow you to make the best stroke. Putting is crucial in golf so try as many brands, types, and lenghts out as you want until you can find something you are comfortable with. Sorry for the long explanation but I had trouble finding the right length for my own putter and I know how frustrating it can be. Cheers

The length doesn't really matter as much as the look, feel, and confidence it gives you when you look down at it. I went to a tall putter(chest high) 2 years ago for a back issue and will never go back. I make more putts with and know that I have a better than average chance from within 10 to 12 feet.

i am 5'9 and right now using a 34' putter. i have a bad habit of gripping in the middle of the grip. so if its a 31' i will still grip it at the middle of the grip.
what i think works best, is to have a new putter shaft that is about 37', simply close your eyes and grip the putter and put alittle with the eyes close. you want to do it with someone to tell you if your eyes are directly above the ball. regardless of your aim, just to feel if its the right length. and then cut to that length
you will be surprised

I am 5'10" and I use a 35" putter. The real thing is that you need to feel comfortable with it. My only real recommendation is that if you are torn between two lengths, go with the longer one. You can always choke up a little.

go to a store that sells them and see which one feels the best. what length to how you want to put is the best. im 6'0 and use a 34" i like the way it feels. do what feels right and you will be fine. most places have a practice green so hit some with some different sizes and see what feels most comfertable.
