it can be from an infection or disease in the body, even the common cold or flu. or it can be from not brushing or having periodontal disease. you should be checked by your dentist if you suspect the latter. i recommend an ionic toothbrush (not sonic) and neydent toothpaste or apagard.

Neydent

NeyDent ® prevents caries and pain when the teeth are extremely sensitive. NeyDent ® also improves the blood flow, which strengthens the gums and builds up resistance against colds and infections.

this is due to plaque \tartar accumulation..{ the black or grayish green hard particle around the neck of the teeth orwhere the teeth meets the gum}. this accumulation causes the gums to get inflamed or sore. plaque /tartar accumulates around the teeth over a period of time mainly due to improper brushing habits/technique. certain over the counter medicines may give temporary relief. proper treatment involves dental cleaning by a dentist/dental assistant and regular and proper brushing technique.

Could be the early stages of gum disease. Start flossing each evening and brushing after every meal. (Trust me, I'm in pain right now because I only did the minimal, brushing twice a day, irregular flossing. My wallet is in pain, too.)

you may have gingivitis. But I think you're in stage 1 of it.I I suggest you use listering mouth wash, and get to a dentist when you can. If it becomes swallon, you may need oral surgery to remove it.

Brushing too hard, or you may have a disease. Get it checked, especially if there is bleeding.
