why do people say so many negative things about it without even finding out why? i know the media influences people, but seriously, come on... i hate all that crap about "islam has all these terrorists, it's about violence" when the word itself means peace. a lot of colleges are christian so they make students read the bible even if they're of a different religion. i say, people should read the 3 main Holy books and get to know stuff about the different faiths.
what is your opinion about this?

Yes, I totally agree with you. Especially being Muslim, it hurts to hear "towel head" or "camel jockey". I do agree with the fact that you think everyone should the three holy books, but don't you think they should know a lot about there religion, before learning about other religions?
EDIT- David I, do you have any evidence that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), married a 6 year old and 9 year old girl?? That is not true. Her parents wanted her to wed Muhammad, but he refused do to the fact that she was to young, And until she reached the age where she was suitable for a mom.

Actually I did look it up. It was the fastest growing religon before 9/11.
But since the sucide bombers and such it has started going the other way. But if it was the largest. Which the Roman Catholic Church is. does that make it right? When the earth was destroyed in Noah;s day was the majority of people right? What about Sodom and Gamorrah? One man and his two daughters were saved.
Jesus said "Narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life and few are the ones finding it."
So actually the true religion would be a small group.
So the larger they get the less chance they have of being the right one. During Jesus day a few were saved compared to the amount of people he preached to.
But the Muslim faith does not believe that Jesus is the messiah. That tells me that unless you do believe that you cannot be saved if everyone in the world converted.
Jesus Christ is the only way.

This shows your ignorance about Islam. The word doesn't mean "peace", it means "submission". People who say "Islam is a religion of peace" do not understand the nature of Islam.
When Mohammed first got his "revelations", he was in Mecca, which at the time was controlled by pagans. At first, its philosophy was that of peace and tolerance toward non-muslim peoples. Eventually, the pagans chased him out of Mecca, and he fled to Medina. There, in Medina, his revelations suddenly changed into "kill the unbelievers". All throughout his life after that point was one bloody battle after another, and assassinations galore. One of the primary tenets of Islam was to conquer all neighboring peoples, and forcing them to submit to Allah. Islam has had a long, bloody history over the last 1400 years. Since Islam sees no separation between church and state, it became a political entity as well as a religious one. Its primary goal, even today, is to convert the entire world to Islam, and they will not stop until they do. The only "peace" they understand will occur once everyone has submitted to Allah. As for "People of the Book" (Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians), if they will not convert, they will be subjugated and forced to pay a poll tax. Their condition will be much like that of blacks living in the Deep South.
Some people will cite the Crusades or the Dark Ages as Christianity's "extremism", but committing violence in the name of Christ is not in accordance with Christian doctrine, whereas committing violence in the name of Allah is COMPLETELY in accordance with Islam. The terrorists are not "extremists", they're just being "good Muslims"! If you were to go stand on a street corner in Riyadh, Mecca, or Medina, and announce, "Islam is a religion of peace", you would be instantly killed.

“ohyeah” is right, the media has done Islam a great favour through publicity and people get curious and go research, and some are impressed with what they find. Like they say “any publicity is good publicity”. I’m sure the clever Muslims see beyond the “terrorist” BS and are grateful to FOX news for promoting their religion.

I agree with the last part , people should learn all 3 main holy books , and even more , they should learn about ALL major religions of the world . learn , study , serarch and re-search , they will find amazing things !
but about the first part .. I don't agree at all .
it's not about the media or the crap in the media, it's about the crap teachings of the religion itself . it's a very violence religion , because it was designed for a very violence people ( arab people ) . read the holy book of Islam yourself . it's all about war and how to die for allah and mohammad . and what is waiting for you in heaven if you got killed in the "holy" war ... etc
sure there is a bright side , teachings of love and mercy and peace , but all for the followers of the same religion . not for non-believers ... thast is the point !
even if you became a muslim one day , and for some reason you wanted to leave Islam , you will get killed !.. it's a one way ride .. no return .

Wickedness will increase before the coming of our Lord and Savior. I really don't care what anyone calls themselves.
I only care that they have a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. The bible tells us that right before Christs return, wickedness and lawlessness will increase. The spirit of anti-christ will be increasing throughout the world. I believe that any religion that teaches anything other than Christ Jesus, as God Almighty, is of the spirit of anti-christ and not of the Spirit of God. Even so, Christ teaches us to love everyone and forgive them, just as He loves us and forgives us. Christ will judge this world, not me or anyone else. Out of love for God, I speak His truth, out of love for people, I speak His truth.
We are commanded to do everything out of love for God and people. Just because a religion is the fastest growing, does not make it right, rather, if we are in the end times, it actually agrees with the teaching of scripture about the spirit of anti-christ. All signs point to the end of the age and I am eagerly awaiting my deliverance from the judgment which will be poured out upon this world.

You're right that people should familiarize themselves with a religion's teachings before judging it. But Islam actually means 'submission' not 'peace'.

we are growing very fast, alot has to do with the west demonizing Islam, it causes curiosity. you could say the western media is a recruiting tool for people to be potential Muslim converts by all its negativity. We Muslims love children so we don't abort, that helps numbers. Plus we put more of a focus on family less on material glitter of this world, basically second child instead of second car. Islam is growing fast and spreading at unprecidented rates, which is simply fantastic. Thank you western media for sparking interest where no interest was before.

To me extreme islamic militancy is a clear and present danger. When a muslim subculture takes hold in a western country, it is prime breeding ground for such extremists. ie, France, Germany and even the USA. This is what worries the westerner. I have not read or heard anywhere that Islam has all the terrorists. Care to eleborate?

Islam is a religion founded in a man of terrible sin Mohamed-should have been sent to Prison for life-this shame it justifies sex with little young children Aiasha was only 9 years old-at todays growing up point she would only be 6 or 7 years old. Mohamed rejected the prophet Isaiah who told that the Messiah would die for our sins to forgive us "He will lay down his life to make forgiveness for our sins." Isaiah 53 Jesus cares about you.
