I went through the same thing, i refused to talk to everyone about it, mainly for because of the **** i knew people would throw in my face. But i dont know how old you are, if you are in school, i would go talk with your school councler. Just make up this senerio (sp) that you know someone is a self injurer and ask her/him what you should do, and take his/her advise and "try" to somehow be strong enough to talk to someone about this. I did and i am doing alot better, trust me talking helps. And talking with a psychiatrist doesnt make you crazy and no one has to know about it, like say you have to leave school for a session with her/him, just say you have a dr. appt. becuase in a way it is. I hope this helps! take care.

It was said in the book I HATE YOU DON"T LEAVE ME that people who cut themselves do it because they feel as though they are not real and the pain helps them verify their exhistance. I don't know if a constant feeling of emptiness is familiar to you, but it is something to consider.

Imagine for a moment that you had a serious health problem like a jaw infection. What if someone told you to "just get over it." We both know that the chances of wishing the problem away is very unlikely. It is better to go to a doctor who specialises in helping you so that you may recover, correct?
Well, mental illness is just that -- an illness. It isn't brain damage. It just means that you are suffering from something curable and you need the proper assistance to cure it. Now you may want to deny that you might have some mental illnesses in the hopes that you can pretend that nothing is wrong, but what you might want to realise is that everyone around you can see that something is wrong, and you are the only one who thinks you are hiding it.
Do yourself a favor and go see a Psychologist. It is no different that seeing the dentist for a tooth ache or going to the hospital to deliver a baby. Be honest with the psychologist and you will be suprised what it is that you are suffering from. (can't tell you, I have my suspicians, but you need to find out from a specialist.)
One last thing: The psychologist keeps all of your records confidential. So if you want, you can keep this your secret. If you still live with your parents, tell your mother that if you go that you don't want anyone other than the Psychologist and your parents to know.

Your not crazy for cutting yourself. The behavior that you are doing is called self injury. It is a coping mechinism that your using whenyou feel angry, upset, and sad. It is a way to deal with strong feelings. Whoever told you to kill yourself was wrong, and very ignorant for saying that to you. Self harming is not uncommon and many people do it for different reasons.
If you want support there are a few good fourms on the internet for people. One is called safe Haven Powered by invision power board. That is the best one. No one will judge you and there are many topics to choose from and get support, advice. there are people on there from all over the world, even as young as 13 yrs. old. You are not alone and self injury is rarely done for attention. I hope you can log onto a website and find support , it will really help you feel better.
Best wishes.

First -- whoever said you should kill yourself is a f*cking idiot. They're wrong. you should NOT kill yourself. A psychiatrist/psychologist/counselor is not a bad thing. Going to one does NOT mean you're crazy. It means you know something is wrong, and you want to fix it. i have cut myself, i'm on the 'path to recovery' now, but it's recent. but please, go to the psychiatrist. at least just try it. no one will think you're crazy, and no one besides you and your mom/family needs to even know about it. I'm going to source some sites that were really helpful for me. I hope they help you. Please know that someone cares. If your mom wants you to get help, that shows that she cares. I care, i don't want someone else to have to go through this any longer than necessary.
