I usually take a couple of Aleve and I use a heating pad on my stomach or back (whichever is hurting).

I hope that you can eventually become comfortable talking to your mom. I'd be crushed if my daughter (15 years old) didn't think she could talk to me.

Feel better!

1. Take ibuprofen to reduce pain and swelling
2. OR take Midol to help ease bloating, pain, and irritability. (but don't take both).
3. Definitely use a heating pad where it hurts. If you don't have one, you can make one by putting some uncooked rice in a sock or small pillowcase and tie it off with a ribbon or rubber band. Then microwave it for 4 minutes (or longer if it's not hot enough).
4. A hot bath should help some
5. Drink hot ginger tea. Ginger is a natural pain reliever.
6. Periods usually have the same effect on women in the same family. I would REALLY encourage you to talk to your mom, an older sister, an aunt, or some other female relative to see if they have the same problems and how they handle them.
7. Keep your feet warm. Believe it or not, if your feet are cold, your cramps will be worse.

Feel better soon! Hope this helped.

You should feel comfortable asking your mother for help when you have your period.

Enough lectures. I always found that a heating pad on a very low temp helped ease my cramps. Not much use at school, but good in the evening before bed. Don't take the heating pad to bed, though.

I'm so sorry you can't ask your Mom this type of question. Anyway, get on your hands and knees (like your going to crawl). Then rock your booty up and down. This is called the pelvic rock. OR massage the area right under your ankle on your foot. Apply pressure there with your thumb in circular motion. This is a type of Reflexology. There are nerves in our feet that affect the organs in our bodies. Last, if you have a heating pad put it on your lower tummy. Don't leave it on your bare skin for very long.

Try a heating pad for 15 minutes on then off, you might feel so relief. You might want to talk to your mom so that she can take you to a doctor, there are things out there to help with that time of the month, that aren't just sitting around the house.

yup, pretty much what everyone else has said. some midol and a heating pad... and if you don't have that handy, take a towel and put it in hot water and just put it in your abdomen to relieve the pain.
and as crazy as it sounds (and as much as i know you want to do it... lol.) excercise does help. just stretch a lil and do a couple of yoga poses, nothing too crazy.

plus, your mom has/had cramps. she'd know for sure what you need to do! don't be embarrassed :-)

good luck.
being a girl sucks sometimes! lol.

Midol helps me the best. But if it gets too uncomfortable you may have to tell your mother. It could be something else on top of your period. You should really ask your mother she may have had similar problems when she was younger.

advil. you can take 800 mg. (4 tablets) which is prescription strength to help.

make sure you drink lots of water.

AND even though you feel like crap, I feel that working out (going for a jog or brisk walk) helps eleviate my cramps.

there are also meds like naproxin sodium (aleve) and midol that can help. BUT everybody has advil handy, right?

use a heating pad, that should help. it sounds crazy but light exercising is supposed to help to. I opt out to curl in a ball with a heating pad though. and medicine too.
