I want to use cool effects.
Something easy to use and that is not windows movie maker.
and also, what can you do on sony vegas that you can't do on movie maker?

I also highly recommend Vegas. Vegas has 2 versions, Movie Studio and Vegas Video. Movie Studio is easier to use and it is based on the professional Vegas Video.
It comes with very very good help and training guide which is how I learned everything about Vegas. I use Vegas Video now.
Here are just a few samples of things I've made with it. These are just a few things I have on the web but I've done commercial work with Vegas Video and unfortunately, I can't show those because of copyright.

Well yes, Windows Video Maker is pretty simple.
You can get (I think) I movie for Windows, I'm not sure though, but that is also simple and can give you pretty cool effects too.

There is no such thing as iMovie for Windows. Vegas is good but not very easy to use.
