My best advice is all preventative. In other words, the better PREPARED you are, the less reason you'll have to be nervous! And, empty your bladder as close to performance time as you can, and don't drink a lot after that.

Performing music is a lot like playing sports in some respects. Lots of practice makes for better performance. Get yourself into the "zone" and don't think negative thoughts! Think POSITIVE - I've practiced a LOT and I'm SO ready for this!! Put on your "game" face and attitude - stand tall, shoulders back as you walk on stage or into the performance, breathe deeply and intentionally - don't let nerves force you into shallow breaths. Even though you don't play a wind instrument, breathing is still important. Concentrate and use the adrenaline to your advantage, instead of letting it paralyze you. Most important of all, HAVE FUN!!!!

I understand what you mean. I practice a lot, too, and at auditions I tend to tense up a bit too much. Think to yourself that being nervous is a totally normal thing to experience at that moment. Use the nervous energy in a postive way. Maybe it will give more focus to your playing.
On the other hand, I use this stuff called "Rescue Remedy" by Bach. It's an herbal spray that you put on your tongue to help you relax. Who knows if it really works, but if you believe it will, then you do get some benefits from it.

just calm down. take deep breaths and think "i am the best. i kick a$$ at the violin!!" and dont drink much before you go on. maybe a sip or two to calm your nerves a bit. but just calm down and act as though you are playing for your parents or friends or teacher. the key is chilling. you get too worked up and the chances of you messing up is even greater than it was to begin with. and just do your best. hope i helped. good luck!
