I recently got into couponing and as you may imagine the Sunday paper is a valuable source of them for me. I'm wondering what retailers do with leftover newspapers come Monday (or later in the week). Do they throw them out? Give them away? Do you think they would give old papers to somebody who asked nicely for them?

Hello! Papers from the previous day get picked up by the newspaper distributor. The unsold papers get credited back to the store so that they are not liable for having to pay for unsold papers.

The newspaper guy has to take them back to ensure proper credit to the store. If you find a nice manager they can snag the coupons for you.

A lot of leftover newspapers and magazines are donated to local hospitals and medical clinics to be put in their waiting rooms.
