Let's assume you don't consider it cheating. Let's assume you did it because you thought it was okay.

Well, tell her/him about it. See what happens. Either you're on the same page and it's fine, or you're not on the same page and the relationship will probably end. But that's okay, because you weren't on the same page -- better to get it out in the open now.

What constitutes cheating in a relationship is determined by the two people in that relationship, and nobody else.

Yes it's sort of cheating, no matter what both of you say you shouldn't be together then if you dont want to commit....If you guys are just friends with benefits then thats kind of different, but the thing is no matter what you are feelings get involved somehow, one way or another....id be careful about it...if your going to be sleepign around then i would break the dating situation with the other person

cheating is cheating.... if you were technically an "item" at the time of your affair... then yes you cheated on her.. even though you said you wanted to keep your options open.. which just means your not truly committed to her either...

you situation really sounds sort of like a "side relationship till i get a real one." Trust me, you're not planning this well for yourself. But it's considered cheating even if it's not about commitment.
But....do what you gotta do!
