If one can be born straight, why can't they be born non-heterosexual?
If scientist discovered that some people were non-heterosexual because of genetic reasons, would this cause some Christians to stop condemning non-heterosexuals, or would they try to refute this discovery? Just a random, dumb thought.

Non-heterosexuals
Non-heterosexuals is a neologism, used to describe a group of people whose sexual orientation is other than heterosexuality. It is used primarily as a non-exclusionary term for homosexuals (male and female), and bisexuals, although could also mean asexual. The term is thus used in much the same way as queer, though perhaps less emotionally charged. Some people discourage use of the term due to its perceived heteronormativity.

Geography makes such a difference.
In some parts of the country, the right wing prevails, in others, the left. In this neck of the woods, one might pose the question, "If some scientists discover that some gays can be helped to live happier lives if they undergo sexual reorientation therapy, would that stop doctrinaire left-wingers from condemning anyone who claims that gays are not all born that way?"
___The evidence seems to be mixed. Some gays seem absolutely resistant to change, and some are better off changing (13%). But whether or not it's genetic or a result of early experience hasn't been determined, and the issue is so loaded, that the researchers with the most dramatic claims either way aren't to be trusted.
___Those Christians who condemn homosexuality per se should remember that we are all sinners, and most likely, we're all sexual sinners in some ways. And gays should remember that regardless of sexual orientation, public displays of sexuality are rude, and rightly cause resentments in others.
___More in answer to your question, gay rights groups have been trying to make the case that they were born that way, in order to be able to claim some of the moral high ground of the civil rights movement. The argument has to do with gayness being something one acquires through an accident of birth, and it's being beyond one's control, and hence, not a moral issue.
___But the data aren't conclusive, and many activists (not just gay activists) should be told again and again, "No, it's not OK to massage the data (i.e. lie) for a 'good cause'; if you have to massage the data, you don't really know it's a good cause." In the absence of such data, Christians should read what Jesus said about casting the first stone, and gays should be a little more honest about their claims to maora high ground, and both sides should be more tolerant of one another.
___Christianity isn't a synonym for "moron", either, Western science and democracy were built by Christians.

Most scientist believe that humans are causing gobal warming, which is the modren day government reliigion, thus it's no surprize at all that men would find a way to disprove Jesus and embrace the very thing/s he commanded men not to do. What we are witnessing at this present time is the last stages of normal life. Non-heterosexuals are not born that way, like gobal warming it's all based on lies. We are nearing the end and as men uphold the things that the God of creation hates the sooner the end will come. Pastor

I am a Christian who subscribes to the neurohormonal theory. That doesn't mean, however, that I believe people have no control over their BEHAVIOR.

One is not born 'straight' any more than one is born 'Canadian' or 'Presbyterian' or 'the Queen of the Netherlands'. These are all discursively constructed labels that are applied to people on the basis of qualities over which they have no control.
One may well be born with a genetic disposition to same-sex attraction. But one is not born "gay" - that is a social designation and an identity.

In St mark in the New Testiment Jesus speaks of gays or uinics. He says some are born gay others make themselves gay. I dont have my scriptures to quote exactly but I think that what he is refering to is that some have been givin this challenge for a reason and some will not marry and are expected to try to live the commandments. I know that Gods loves all of us and burdens us with weakness to make us strong. Please read st mark and go to www.lds.org
I think it may help.

No. When you're born, you're either male or female. There's nothing genetic about sexuality, for that is a LIFESTYLE CHOICE made by responsible people mature enough to understand their sexuality.

I'm not really sure how one can be born "gay" or "straight", since NO one has a sexual preference before puberty.
Sexual preference is complex, and is probably influenced by a lot of things. Even if one has a genetic predisposition toward alcoholism, mass murder, raping children, drug addiction, or same sex attraction, one does not have to act on their impulses like animals. You can still control yourself, at least in theory.
The Bible says that God does not give someone a "test" without also giving that person a way out, so no one has an excuse for sin.
----edit---
I don't see how "Meg Michaels" knew that she was "straight" before she ever felt attraction for boys. How can you have a sexual orientation if you don't know about sex? Liking dolls, or baseball, or ballet has nothing to do with sex.

Not really, because "hardcore" Christians don't believe in much of science. They support Creationism and "God's will". Christians would find some idiotic way to condemn homosexuality, even if their reasoning is flawed and based on ignorance.

Homosexuality must be genetic. Who, in their right mind, would choose it arbitrarily? People are attracted to others of the same sex because of something Christians often call "chemistry". Damn, they're finally right about something. Now, if they could only stop discriminating...

I was. I'm bisexual - I played with barbie dolls kissing other barbie dolls *and* kissing the Ken dolls. It never mattered to me.
Scientists already have... I don't recall exactly what or how. Just research it.
