I can only recall one experience. I did not get into trouble because there was no follow through.

Many years ago I was working in a warehouse, loading a rail car. It was late at night and I was working alone inside the rail car, when I suddenly felt someone grab my right shoulder from behind. Instinctively, I spun quickly to my right with an inside-out knife hand block with my right hand, into a right hand fighting stance and threw a straight right hand, but stopped it probably less than an inch from my assailant's nose.

It was one of my co-workers who thought it would be fun to scare me. I think he went to the bathroom in his pants. Needless to say, he never tried to scare me again.

There are so many questions that needs to bring and consider in order to cope yourself on some important issues, but the things is we really didn't know you personally. So, there is no other who knows your capability beyond anything else except you, so you are the one that must suppose to answer said question, because the issue here is not about your own physical ability, because things rely upon your willingness and determination to learn and achieve your main aim and purposes, besides any style of Martial Arts are worthy matter that can let you fit physically and mentally. Think so many times and ask yourself if what you like most that can satisfy and make yourself comfortable with, the most efficient way is by visiting some legit dojo, if there are available in your area then go on and observe, ask some important and necessary questions to the assigned Instructor related to your concern, maybe through that effort you can decide and push thing if what's favor you most conveniently. Good luck ..............

Punching someone in the mouth for accidentally looking at you the wrong way is not an example of quick reflexes. What we are trying to develop in Martial Arts is the appropriate action. Wildly lashing out even if it does turn out to be a flukey blow is just lack of control. The quick reflex would be to stop the inappropriate punch before it made target.

I was daydreaming in class when the instructor tried to grab my shoulder to get my attention or make me follow an instruction or something. With a short snappy block I stepped back into stance; hope he doesn't read this and learn that it was totally by accident and not as he complimented me for by design. Okay not funny, funny but makes me smile when I think about it

Yeah,

Once I was standing with some of my friends at school and a kid came up(who I did not realize was one of my best friends) and swung(I guess it was supposed to be a light punch to my arm) so I grabbed his hand and hit him hard in the face. I felt really bab once I realized who it was but my friend forgave me. Now that I look back on it I realize how funny it was.

ya, my girlfriend was jokin around trying to poke me in the side one day and she lunged to poke me and was aiming what seemed low, so my reflexes were to block and i lifted a knee and caught her on the cheek with an accidental knee. she was pissed at me for a second then started laughing because she realized it was an accident. She was okay and i felt bad for catching he with a knee.

A guy at work thought it would be funny to tickle the inside of my ear with a pencil. I spun round and smacked him full on in the teeth. His front tooth lodged itself in my knuckle and I pulled it out, and when he flew over backwards he tore the lobe from one of his ears on a bench vise.

He never did it again.
