Why is this, so many people told me that they could actually get me out of some things. The marine recruiter said as long as I wasn't on probation and paid my fines off, I could go immediately. Why is this waiting period for the army? I wnated to go navy, but I know they wouldn't take me yet. BUT WHY THE ARMY, I thought for sure I could go, I wanted to go soon. Please someone help me out that knows about this.

Maybe you need a 2nd opinion from the army. Talk to another recruiter before you give up on the idea. The fact that the Marine recruiter said you can go immediately leads me to believe there is some wiggle room. I know the Marines didn't make mission this last time around, so they may be opening the door a little wider and letting in scenarios they wouldn't consider in better times. Perhaps the army is in the same boat.

The army does not like drunks that get themselves in trouble and they don't want to have to deal with someone who's coming in with legal troubles. Did you really need to ask this question?
By the way if you get a dui once you're in you will be in ALOT of hot water...you can lose pay, get extra duty etc etc

Welcome to the adult world and having to be held accountable for your actions... get used to that and disappointment. It is possible that your recruiter is setting you up to put you in a MOS you don't want (or anyone else). Chat with another recruiter by phone and ask them how long after a DUI can you enlist.
