It is all about your thought-life. I have never heard God speak in an audible voice to me but I hear Him in my thought-life. and through the reading of His Word. God's Holy Spirit helps me to discern things, whether they be true or false.

Incidentally, that is where we fight Satan also. If Satan can get your mind, its over.

Haven't you ever had a thought come to your mind and you wonder where it came from or why you even thought of such a thing? Do you consciously think the thought yourself or did it just it just pop into your mind? Think about it.

John Locke, one of the founding intellects of the Enlightenment and of the principle of religious tolerance, devotes a section to the interpretation of personal revelation in his "An Essay Concerning Human Understanding". Perhaps you should read this before assuming you know enough about the matter to talk about it so dismissively. Perhaps these people are using a metaphor to describe something that you simply haven't experienced.
___The disciplines that provide us with our greatest certitudes, the sciences, are also narrow ways of looking at reality, and haven't been able to come up with a plausible explanation for the consciousness you experience every day, that is, unless you call a square peg beaten furiously into a round hole a plausible explanation. The sciences can explain the physical world, but do less well when they step outside of it, as is evidenced in the difficulty psychology and sociology face in trying to claim that they are real sciences. If the limits of real scientific knowledge were the limits of reality, then you wouldn't be conscious.
___One poll of scientists showed that 70% claimed to be religious. At least they know what science doesn't know.
___Edit: As far as the sin thing goes, we're all sinners; we all make mistakes. When you encounter judgmental Christians, keep in mind that there are secularists who are just as dogmatic and rigid. No group has a monopoly on incoherence.

Because He does talk to us in a still small voice. He does answer our questions. I've seen miracles and out of the ordinary things.....God took away the all the time everyday pain I had in my knees after 4 knee surgeries. How much more coherent do I need to be?

I don't see why you even bother making such statements. If you don't believe in God and you think Chritians are incoherent then why does it matter what they say? You almost seem offended by what a bunch of "idiots" have to say.

Oh and by the way, it doesn't offend us when you say these things.

It is my experience that this is a state of being that you haven't found yet. If you ask Jesus into your heart and mean it, then you will understand how all this "talking" goes on. But until then, you won't understand.

Maybe because, like myself, they talk with him regularly. He as often answers questions I have had for him. And when needed, he often performs "miracles" to help me.

I tell you what, believe whatever you like, but don't tell me what I know to be true... isn't. It's a weak argument. God has answered many of my prayers, so your saying if you haven't experienced it, then it can't be true? A little myopic don't you think?
