Dogs are shipped by the airlines in the cargo. I recently had one sent from Ohio to NH and used Northwest. They were really messed up and I wouldn't use them again. It costs from $200-$300 on average, depending on how big the crate is to ship the dog in and the weight of the dog plus crate. I've heard good things about the Continental Airlines program. If I ever have a dog shipped again, I'd probably use them. Here's a link: http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/animals/default.aspx

You cannot "mail" a dog like you would a package with FedEx, UPS or the postal service. However, you can ship dogs from one state to another, but it generally has to be done by air freight. Call up different airlines and get quotes -- prices will vary widely. Most will require you to present proof that your dog has been vaccinated and has "acclimated" to cold weather because most cargo holds are not heated and the dog will need to have a winter coat. You could also hire a courier service, but this will probably cost significantly more than shipping the dog by air.

I would think mailing would not be an option as it is a live animal. When I bought a dog in Illinois from our home in Minnesota the person we bought him from arranged to have him flown in via a cargo plane. She sent him in a dog carrier which I had to mail back to her and the cost was just over $100 to have him flown in. Hope that helps.

Yes! Check into airlines and shipping companies (such as UPS). There are certian breeds (ones with smush noses) that cannot with stand the altitude change. Most airlines have the information on their websites.
Just a warning--don't expect it to be cheap. I have found it costs as much as buying a plane ticket.

that is possible and extremely elementary. Many breeders might have the innovations which you prefer on their internet site. canine oftentimes deliver with the aid of commercial airline and holiday interior the baggage compartment, so there are dissimilar issues to evaluate. climate could be tough on the animal, because it gets very chilly quite a few thousand ft interior the air. they might additionally be uncovered to the climate on an identical time as on the floor being shifting around of their crate. Breeders will require you to purchase an airline approved canine crate, or may even incorporate it the delivery value. there are a lot of issues that should flow incorrect for the duration of the holiday, and it must be very aggravating for the animal. for that reason, i might look for a superb breeder interior making use of distance. the 1st breeder i offered from shipped canine from instruct to instruct oftentimes. My animals are family individuals individuals, so i might quite not placed them interior the direction of the stress.

You don't really mail the dog. There are services that can transport the dog for you for a fee.

I don't think shoving a dog in an envelope is a good idea. Check with the airlines. I believe it costs in the neighborhood of $85.00.
