I found a small nodule just under the skin in my armpit because of tenderness in the area. I don't have any symptoms of flu, cold, etc. that should cause inflammatory response. Is this probable a sebaceous cyst? Should I see a doctor or wait a few days to see if there's any change? What type of doctor should I see?

Before you run off to the doctor, discontinue using your deodorant. Many people develop problems like small sores and lumps and bumps in the armpit because of the deodorant. Shower daily with a mild soap, do not use any antiperspirant or deodorant, and wait 2 or 3 days, the irritation (if it is from deodorant) should subside. If the pain and swelling are still there after a few days, then contact your doctor for follow up. A regular GP should be able to treat you if this problem does not go away. Good luck.

Sure, it could be an infected follicle, or it could be an infected lymph node. Keep it clean. If it gets bigger and more painful, go see your doctor ASAP. Hopefully it is just an infected follicle. Another worse possibility is that it could be a symptom of a systemic Staph infection (look up "MRSA" on Wikkipedia). It is getting much easier to catch nowadays from the community. If it is staph, you would have more and worse cysts to look forward to in the near future. Note that if the cyst gets big enough, they like to send you to a surgeon and have it cut out, leaving behind a large hole that will of course become a scar.
Also, if you get to the point where it is draining pus, I'd suggest saving yourself a few steps and ask them right away to do a culture test. That way they can diagnose you early and get you on THE RIGHT antibiotics (if necessary) and save you a lot of trouble. Good luck.

The lymph node called the axilla is located in the armpit, it's a larger lymph node in the body. It could be swollen from allergies, sluggish lymphatic system, tumor, cancer, infection, and tons of things. How long has it been swollen and painful? If it's not better within a week, see your doctor, your family physician, he/she can determine if it's enough for an evaluation further. They might do an ultrasound to look at the area and node, and they might examine the chest area too as the axilla is a node that can become cancerous with breast cancer and tumors in the chest region. If it makes you feel better, make an appt with your doctor now and get it checked out.

My uncle once has a pretty good sized bump under his armpit. After he took a hot shower he squeezed from deep inside and it happened to be a big ball of old deoderant. I had a small one before that used to build up every once in a while. It was like an oversized pore that took in whatever dirt/deoderant went under your arm. I have had more, where nothing comes out. Your body may just absorb it if it doesn't come out through the pore.

I would guess a swollen lymph node. It could be your body fighting an infection or any sort of allergen. If it doesn't go away in a few days go to the doctor.
