How can people believe in something that has never been proven to exist(evolution)?

Faith is the common answer, which for some people is difficult.
I do think that people need deeper meaning in life, educated or not.
But if you look at what people refer to as "God" differently and think of it as the "life force",then it is easier to believe it exists. Because .....you can prove than it does.
Hope that helps.
Personally I have a bit of a problem with the "traditional" idea of "God".

Anybody can say the existence of God has never been proven, but I have plenty of reasons to know God does exist. I have felt the presence of God's Spirit.
If you really believe there is no Creator, then you have to believe life originated by accident or random chance, which is totally ridiculous; a living cell is too complex to come into existence by accident, and scientists, in carefully controlled laboratory conditions, cannot get DNA or proteins to form spontaneously.

Mostly because people are generally undereducated, under critical, illogical, and all with the worst combination possible, they're NAIVE. The threats of religion are quite awful and if one doesn't believe it is said that one will feel the fullness of the threat. What more could it possibly take to make another believer? Many people, for example, have fallen into the trap of Pascal's Wager. They can't see the fallacies within it. They simply don't have the desire to look deeper and probably can't think logically enough to notice anything amiss if they did.

How can you go through life thinking you are nothing when you die? What's the point then? Lots of things have never been proved. Theorems and such. Like the Big Bang. People want a meaning to life, so while your sitting on your computer being narrow minded, you should ask why 84% of the world's population belongs to a religion.

A good book to check out is "More Than A Carpenter" by Josh McDowell (http://www.amazon.com/More-Than-Carpenter-Josh-McDowell/dp/0842345523). He was a journalist who was writing a book to prove God didn't exist. Only the more research he did, the more he couldn't deny the existence of God. It's a short quick read, but definitely very eye-opening.

If you're seriously depressed, then maybe you could try a simple prayer, just to see for yourself if God's there. Just sit down somewhere and just ask God to show himself, if he's real.

Einstein was a firm believer in god. He's not mental, uneducated or lacked meaning in life. He might be a bit bummed about the haircut, but I doubt he was depressed.

No matter what you say you take a leap of faith in something. If you don't believe in god, you believe that science explains everything in the world (which it doesn't, trust me I'm a scientist). That's why most scientists are also firm believers in god (maybe not practising members of organized religion, but they are at least agnostic).

I don't know how else to explain it to you, but yes, because it gives us a meaning for life. Without God i don't know how i could make it through day to day life. I can't make you believe but I can tell you, that there is no other place you can ever find such comfort and relief. My God is not only my source of help but my protector, he has a plan for me, and he loves me. And you. enough to die on a cross so that you and i can be in heaven with him when we die. You can call me weak, what ever, but who will you turn to when you don't have anywhere Else to go?

It is quite normal actually. Most humans would like a peace of mind and the creation of "god" provide that peace. It is like you "know" someone is out there looking out for you and will save you when you are in trouble.

To be exact, studies has shown the higher educated a person, the more likely he/she will indulged in "god", balancing the stress, I guess.
