For what? For vengeance. Yes before when they were in war with Mujahidin in Afghanistan USA claimed that they too support the Mujahidin. The war brought to a collapse of USSR.

Putin also declared that USA are now too arogant for being a sole superpower.

The war in Iraq is already 4 years. Look if the US is really prepared and capable to control the Muslim insurgents the can end the war earlier.

Will this all make Russia to support Muslim insurgent in Iraq?

The last time I spoke with Putin, the subject didn't come up. He just went on about loosing his hair. However I'm sure there is a Russian spy on line that may be able to help. Check with Ivan Jakoff, he may know. Whatever would make him think the USA has become too arrogant? The war in Iraq may have the same effect on the USA, as Afghanistan had on the USSR.

Russia will not su[pport the Muslim insurgents.

Remember the Beslan hostage crisis?

On September 1, 2004, Beslan's Secondary School Number One was seized by suspected Chechen terrorists. The siege ended on September 3 with a bloody shootout between the terrorists and Russian security forces. According to official data, 344 civilians were killed, 186 of them children, and hundreds more wounded.

Chechen are Muslim terrorists.

doubt it lots. Russia has own problems with muslim insurgents in Chechnya and if they arm Iraqi insurgents after the US pulls out of Iraq the insurgents may then turn on Russia. Just like Bin Laden did with the USA after Soviet war in Afghanistan. Iraqi insurgents get plenty of aid from Saudi Arabia, Syria and Iran

I highly doubt Russia will support them. Any implication Putin made that he would give Russia's support was simply made to show the USA that it does not run the world and Russia is not as impotent as one may think.
Russia would gain nothing by supporting the insurgents and would bring itself internal conflict by doing this. Russia will keep out of the way in this matter but will continue to express it's views on the situation when appropriate.

Russia's currently fighting muslim insurgents in their southwest. They have nothing to do with Iraq, but supporting Iraqi will be seen by the Russian people as their government changing it's stance on militant Islam. Putin's a smart man, and he knows he can afford to look like he's going soft on the Cheyens

If you haven't noticed Puttin has no problem sending nuclear letters to any one who disagrees with him.

as recently as this week our soldiers have recovered NEW Russian arms from insurgents.

Russia has never passed on throwing America under the bus for a minute. They admitted to spending 350 million dollars to anti Vietnam protests and propaganda campaigns.
They would love to jam us up in Iraq for pay back of their Afghan debacle we helped them loose during their commie days, Puttin was KGB during that period and was programed to hate the capitalist, that's why he's reverting Russia back slowly to commie lite status.

Remember who got caught in the oil for food scandal RED handed? Russia, France, Germany, Venezuela, and Mr. Annon and son.

they all lost billions in profits.

They will and do support the insurgents, and the protesters.

Russia should know that supporting 'insurgents' and 'dictators' always backfires.
If they don't, they should ask the good old US of A. Saddam and Al Qaeda are excellent examples.
