I hate to be the one to tell you this, but there's really nothing you can do (including rehab, boot camps, and grounding).....They'll find a way to do it anyway, I promise. The only way a person quits using ANY substance is from personal will and desire to and there is no way you can instill this upon another person. Just hope he grows out of it eventually.

I myself was once addicted to both. Well, not truly addicted to MJ, but alcohol I consumed myself in. I got out of both because of fear. Cigarettes being my next stop I smoked those for a little while, then Halloween making me swear off all of them. At the time I had been dating a guy [Tyler] who was not good to me, I had dated him previously. Anyways Tyler, Josh [His best friend], and myself were smoking cigarettes a little up the street from my house, and on the way back Tyler dropped the cigarette in my shoe, purposely or not I won't know, and it burned my heel. That kept me from ever touching it again. Also, the fac thtat my memory has been depleteing quite rapidly. I'm only fifteen and I've forgotten most of my freshman year, even though I'm still in it.
The help I give, is to scare the kid away from it. Show him what he'll end up looking like, it's not pretty. I guess I got away from it fast enough to keep my physical features, but mentally it isn't looking good.

dont criticize a friend or worry urself too much about a teenager doin anything hes doin .most teenagers do things cause others are doin it and want to be cool,i was a teen once,we all have been or will be.most of the things teens do are a phase they are goin thriugh,i drank alot and smoke weed as a teen all the time almost non stop,i am now 32 years old 3 kids and a wife,i dont do any drugs at all and i drink maybe once a week ,i grew out of the partying and its actuall good to get it out of his system now so he dont do it when hes suppossed to be an adult with responsibilities, but for now i think hes fine, and if noone nags him about it or act like they dont care hes doin it,it will get old for him even faster, most teens are rebelious and do things cause people dont want them to,hell get bored and grow out of it once it is legal to drink, most do,its not fun anymore breakin the law

psychologists say you can't change a person's attitude but by influencing their behavior you can help them change thier attitude. maybe if your teen is exposed to situations where alcohol and other substances are readily available you are enabling their behavior. crack down on the source of where your teen is getting their substances-- spend as much time with them as you can but make it quality time. don't yell or accuse just show your love and concern.
