It was my last day at work, and noone got me a card, instead they threw a party for two other people who weren't leaving right in front me. Why would people do this to another human being. How would it make you feel.

I was there for 7 years, longer than some of the people who treated me that way.

Yes, every other person who has left has had a party thrown for them.

Because they place a social value upon one individual whereas those whom they place a lesser social value on others. It is proof that society has failed to enforce upon its members the value of each and every member therein.

Questions to ask yourself - is it common to throw a party for someone leaving (it is at my work, but is it at yours)?
If not, why did you expect one?
What was the occasion for the other two people? Birthday, 5 year anniversary on the job, or what? Maybe the party had nothing whatsoever to do with you, it was a pure coincidence and you are taking it personally?
Or maybe, as many have said, they are upset that you are leaving and are trying to make you feel bad for doing so, and also impress upon other employees that "leaving bad, staying good".

Good thing you left. I never expect anything from a workplace even though I have been self employed for 25 years. How long were you there. In your question nobody knows if you were there for one month or 30 years. Very hard to tell from the way you wrote it.

It will make me feel bad. If they can not throw me a party I would bring a cake- sodas and tell everyone to come and celebrate with me I am leaving. This will let people know you are important and confident when others do not think about you THROW YOUR OWN PARTY! YEA

You don't work there anymore right, so they don't have to think about you. Maybe you were not as popular as you thought. Not every place of work carry's on with the party's and gift giving thing. Most places are to work in not socialise.

They probably did not like you. What do you care, anyway. You're leaving, you may meet people who are more the way you want them to be. Something to look forward to, right?

Maybe they aren't happy that your leaving and don't want to wish you well or promote it.
I would feel bad but depending on the reason I'm leaving I can't be mad at them.

Princess everyone is different and some people are just rude.
Be thankful you don't work with them anymore. It was probably a political office thing.
