You are great to open your heart to this puppy. The puppy has found and angel in you. I would like to suggest that you take the puppy to the vet. The vet will be able to let you know if the puppy is suffering from something like worms which may cause some of the symptoms that you are describing. You can also check with the salespeople at your area pet store. They may be able to suggest one of the supplement drinks that will help your puppy gain his appetite back.

Innova Puppy Chow is a great brand of puppy food. Feeding the canned food isn't a good idea as it's just all rubbish crammed in a can. I suggest feeding a raw diet with the Innova or Innova with a few bones (not cooked) throughout the day.

Just read the label on the back of the bag to see how much you should feed.

Thanks for being such a good person and taking in a stray dog!

Get a good quality food with meat (not byproducts) as the first few ingredients.. Not too high in calories because it will be too rich for her. DO NOT OVERFEED HER. It will make her sick. Feed her a little bit at a time, not more than 1/2 a cup if she's a larger breed or less if she's a smaller one. Take her to the vet asap so they can put her on a feeding regimine and make sure she's healthy.

Take her to the vet ASAP. Thin puppies can have a lot of problems that don't show up right away.

If she can eat food food, cooked chicken (plain, no seasoning) and cooked rice (plain, no seasonining).

If she seems like milk would be better, PetsMart or another pet store has replacement milk (pretty inexpensive).

You're going to want to only feed the dog dry food. A premium dog food such as Nutro Natural Choice, Royal Canin or INova. Make sure the food has no by products (heads, feet, feathers etc) or corn. (hard for the dog to digest) You want the ingredients to be as natural as possible.

Also no canned food. Canned food will rot out the teeth. Taking your vets advice isnt the best idea either. They get paid to represent a certain brand of dog food, regardless of what is in it. Check the ingrediants.

Feed her Pedigree dog food. This is one of the ones that they didn't say was contaminated. Thank goodness we have been feeding our pup Pedigree.
We mix a little wet canned food with his dry. Works out very well and he loves it. In your case, you may want to start out slow as she may not be able to eat regular dog food right away if she was starving. You may want to try to bottle feed for awhile.

1st take her to the vet and get shots and ask the vet. what food may be best. It will cost some money but at least you are totally sure.
